- The Service is in honor to God for a smooth implementation of Free SHS
- They say the service will be held in series featuring different pastors
The Ashante Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako has hinted that the party is putting plans together to hold a mega Thanksgiving Service to God over a successful implementation of Free SHS policy.
According to Chairman Wontumi as he is affectionately called, the all-night service is scheduled to take place come Sunday in Kumasi.
Speaking on an Accra-based Neat FM, the NPP chairman disclosed that the service will be in series which will feature various ‘men of God’ in the Ashante Regional capital.
“We would have an all-night service to thank God. It will happen in Kumasi around Ash FM. Pastors such as Kofi Amponsah, Osofo Antwi will be around. Opambour and co. will also embark on theirs for the successful implementation of the programme”, the NPP man said in an interview.
Mr Bosiako who was excited about the successful implementation of the programme reiterated that the opposition NDC are resorting to ‘useless’ propaganda in a bid to downplay the policy.
He added that the policy is a process therefore cannot absorb all continuing students as clarified by President Akufo-Addo.
Chairman Wontumi indicated that the NDC members have no moral rights to criticize the NPP government since they were only interested in looting state resources for themselves and that of their family and friends.
“It’s a step by step process, he should have started with piloting but he didn’t. He is using the first years then it will continue from there. The NDC couldn’t do this”. Akufo-Addo has fulfilled the free SHS promise. We didn’t specify regions, he cut it across all the regions in the country. He loves Ghanaians and they love him too”, he said.
The Free SHS programme under the NPP will relieve the burden of parents of over 400,000 students entering Senior High School for the first time after qualifying from the Junior High School level.
President Akufo-Addo speaking at the launch recently urged Ghanaians disregard politicization and support the policy to succeed.
