Ghanaian actress, producer and TV host, Ama K Abebrese won the best actress award at the Newark International Film Festival in New Jersey, USA last Sunday.
She was awarded for her stellar performance in the African movie ‘Sink or Swim’, directed by award-winning Nigerian Filmmaker, Ike Nnaebue.
The film which featured other notable African actors such as Zack Orji, Adjetey Annan, Omowunmi Dada, Raymond Ofula, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Ruth Ndulu among others, also won the best film at the festival.
The Newark International Film Festival (NIFF) is dedicated to the art of storytelling through film.

The actress posted the news of her win on her Facebook wall, thanking her co-stars for being present to accept the award on her behalf.
Ama K Abebrese has had impressive roles in critically acclaimed films such as Leila Djansi’s Sinking Sands and Beasts of No Nation, where she starred alongside Idris Elba and Abraham Attah.
