Chelsea's ambitious transfer campaign is set to continue with the transfer of German defender Atakan Akkaynak from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to media reports, Antonio Conte's side have sent scouts to watch the young German in action and could make a bid for him in January.
It has also been reported that Ernesto Valverde's Barca are also interested in signing the youngster having kept an eye on the 18-year-old's development for over a year.
Akkaynak's current contract is set to run until 2019 and Leverkusen want to cash in on him.
The player is yet to make an appearance for the first team and the Germany Under-19 international holds dual citizenship with Turkey but opted to represent the World Cup winners.
Akkaynak is able to play in both defensive and attacking midfield and Conte sees him as the perfect replacement for the departed Nemanja Matic.
