The government's Free Senior High School program was launched earlier this week, paving way for nearly all of the country’s high school freshmen to further their education at no charge.
The policy which was the flagship campaign promise of the New Patriotic Party in the years leading up to their 2016 victory, finally came to fruition after 8 months in power.
Some sections of the public have expressed immense gratitude to the government for bringing relief to their hearts and this ‘purewater’ seller is one of them.
In a video posted by Blogger Ameyaw Debrah, the woman carrying her sachet water and soft drinks load on her head, stood with her three children and praised President Akufo-Addo for launching the policy.
The woman, visibly excited, stated she could finally keep her money in the bank and feed her children, as the burden of paying schools have been lifted off her shoulders.
She further called on Ghanaians to ‘come and see’ the good works of the government under the direction of Nana Akufo-Addo.
Meanwhile, government has sent a strong word of caution to parents to pay any unapproved charges to heads of their wards’ school.
The Free SHS program ensures that freshmen of the SHS will be able to attend school while their tuition, feeding and utility fees will be covered by government.
