- The suspect requested for three transactions, each valued at GHc2000
- The victim collapsed upon listening to the reason for the inability of the suspect to pay for the transaction
- The suspect claims she would pay the money; the police are however handling investigations
The town of Nkotompo, in Sekondi reacted with shock when the news of a GHc6000 scam became public.
An MTN mobile money merchant, Emmanuel Dadzie, collapsed when a woman, identified as Mena Ekua succeeded in defrauding him of an amount of GHc6000.
Sources say that the woman approached the merchant and requested for three money transfers, each valued at GHc2000.
When asked to pay the amounts involved, she stated that she received a call, supposedly from MTN, with the news that she had won a raffle, and had to effect the transfers in order to claim her prize.
The vendor immediately collapsed, and was subsequently rushed to the hospital.
He is currently receiving treatment. According to sources, the the police have taken over the matter, even though the suspect has agreed to pay the money.
She has however been granted bail.
