- Jerry Rawlings believes the opposition NDC can never regain power in 2020
- The ex-president makes a case the sitting government will be so difficult to conquer in the 2020 elections
Ex-president Rawlings has revealed that there is no way his party – the National Democratic Congress (NDC) – could regain power in the 2020 elections.
According to Jerry Rawlings, the achievements of the NPP administration truly deserves their win in the 2020 elections.
He believes that the Akufo-Addo-led administration has been pragmatic in dealing with the canker of illegal small scale mining popularly known as Galamsey and has backed the campaign with a joint police-military task force (Operation Vanguard) to police it.
“These people think they can unseat this man [Akufo-Addo] in 2020?” the former military ruler quizzed in an interaction with the CEO of EIB Network, Bola Ray (Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi), when the latter called on him to officially invite him to the launch of his biography come September 21, 2017.
“You think it’s not possible, NPP, after only four years? No!” Rawlings stressed in an interview with Star FM’s Bola Ray.
The assertion by Jerry Rawlings emphasizes his innate disregard for developments in the NDC which he claimed was the major reason for the party’s defeat in the 2016 elections.
