Free SHS frenzy hits Accra as traders go on full display with trunks and chopboxes (Video)

Nearly a week after President Nana Akufo-Addo launched the Free Senior High School program, the frenzy which has struck across the country is still building up.

Despite some few hiccups during the enrollment process for some parents and their wards, quite a number of successfully placed first year students are well on their way to beginning their next academic journey.

Some celebrities have had the chance to enroll their children under the system, including Afia Schwarzenegger’s twin sons and singer Mzbel's son.

The Free SHS policy means first year Senior High School students will have all GES-approved fees covered by the government including tuition, feeding and some utility fees.

YEN.com.gh sighted a video posted by Blogger Ameyaw Debrah, which showed citizens displaying their enthusiasm for the launch of the new policy.

In the video, some women were bustling about , dressed in school uniforms carrying trunks and chopboxes on their heads, while other traders cheered them on.

About 400,000 students are expected the begin the 2017/2018 academic year under the new policy.
