YEN.com.gh has gathered that the headmaster at the Essiema Secondary/Technical school has been ordered to return the buckets of paint he demanded from the 2017/2018 freshmen as part of their prospectus.
Following complaints by some parents of the new students, the headmaster of the school which is located in the Ellembelle district in Western Region, received the order from the District Director of Education, Frances Williams to return the paint.
In a report by MyNewsGh.com, the headmaster included the buckets of paint in the prospectus of the new students coming in under the Free SHS Policy.
The request was to support the school in giving a facelift to some of its structures.
However, according to the District Director, such a requirement was not approved by the Ghana Education Service, which points to the headmaster violating the regulation against heads of schools charging unapproved fees.
This incident follows the interdiction and dismissal of some headteachers from other schools across the country, who have or are facing sanctions for going against the laid down regulations regarding the Free SHS Program.
So far, about two headmasters have been sacked for extorting money from some Free SHS beneficiaries, while about 9 others have been interdicted for interfering with the start of the policy in their institutions.
