The Police in the Upper East region have arrested one of their own officers for supplying guns and other offensive weapons to armed robbers for operation.
Corporal Effah Kyere Boadu, the Upper East Regional Police armored officer was picked up after group of robbers who were arrested in an operation named him.
Report put up by mynewsgh.com indicates that, Corporal Effah Kyere Boadu allegedly sold three pistols belonging to the Police Service to the robbers.
The report says the robbers who terrorize residents were all arrested in a failed operation after a heavy gunfire exchange between a police patrol team in Bolgatanga.
According to police investigators, the armed robbers upon their interrogation blew Corporal Effah Kyere’s cover as the one behind their weapons.
The police say a further checks at the residents of the criminals uncovered an additional pistol and boxes of ammunition.
Meanwhile, Corporal Effah Kyere together with all the robbers have been detained at Navrongo police station pending further investigations.
