A Christian couple in Cincinnati, US who already have five children have welcomed conjoined twins after refusing advice to abort.
Jason and Heather Kroeger welcomed their twin sons Isaac and Elijah in early September.
Doctors initially told them that they were expecting one child. However, subsequent scans in the first trimester revealed that they were two and that they were conjoined.
Doctors then advised them that it was possible to abort. However, the parents rejected this advice.
Jason said: "To us it wasn't an option. These children are our children; they were given to us for a purpose... to protect them. Abortion was never an option."
The twins are reportedly conjoined in a way they cannot be separated safely. Jason and Heather are high school sweethearts who got married in 1999. They now have seven children.
They have set up an online fundraising page on GoFundMe.com for well-wishers to contribute towards the twins' medical and other expenses.
