Maverick politician, Kennedy Agyapong says there is just no way the contributions of Ghana’s first president – Kwame Nkrumah – can be erased under the carpet. According to Kennedy Agyepong, Dr Kwame Nkrumah was the best among his equals in pre and post-independence.
Commenting on recent moves by government to set aside a special holiday for his memorial, the maverick politician made the case that such a move can’t in anyway equate Nana Addo to Nkrumah.
“The things Kwame Nkrumah did, Nana Akufo-Addo has a challenge because he has to do a lot to beat his record. Dr Kwame Nkrumah was a dreamer. He did a lot for Ghana. What I believe is that they can set a founders day so we celebrate it once. They should set it as “founders’ day” to showcase everyone’s role they played each year. It can even educate the citizenry in terms of history. I don’t have problem with that…This can also serve as education for the youth”, he argued.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong has argued that Ghana is not ready to have too much holidays. According to him, Ghana’s weak macro economy.
