- Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck will be out for at least three weeks with groin injury
- The England attacker suffered the injury in his team's 0-0 draw against Chelsea
- He will be targeting a return in Arsenal's away tie to Watford on October 14
Arsenal star forward Danny Welbeck has been ruled out for at least three weeks with a groin injury.
The England striker picked up the injury midway through the second half in 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday September 17.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger while addressing journalist said: “Danny has a scan today, we don’t know how bad his groin injury is but he will certainly be out until the international break.”
Apart from Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie at home to Doncaster, Welbeck will miss at least three matches.
Premier League clash against West Brom at the Emirates on Monday, September 25, the Europa League trip to BATE Borisov on September 28 and the Premier League clash at home to Brighton on October 1 will come too soon for him.
So Welbeck might be targeting the Premier League visit to Watford on Saturday October 14.
Wenger, meanwhile, also provided updates unsettled midfielder Mesut Ozil and Francis Coquelin.
Germany superstar Ozil is on the mend from the knee problem that kept him out of the Stamford Bridge stalemate over the weekend.
But Arsenal are unsure how long French enforcer Coquelin will be out for with the hamstring injury he suffered after coming on as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Bournemouth on September 9.
Wenger said: "Mesut is training again, but for tomorrow no (he will not play). He has a little inflammation of his knee."
The Gunners will reshuffle again against lowly League One side Doncaster Rovers in tomorrow September 20 league cup tie.
Wenger revealed English duo Calum Chambers and Jack Wilshere are in line to play.
He added: "It will be a similar team to the one that played against Cologne."
The Gunners beat the Germans 3-1 in that controversial, late-starting Europa League game last week, with France striker Olivier Giroud starting.
