- Opposition members have denounced government's Free SHS policy
- Some members of said the Free SHS policy is a "scholarship" policy and not free
- Government recently launched it's flagship Free SHS initiative
Several supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have complained about government's Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative on the sidelines of the NDC's Founder's Day solidarity march.
Even though the government's Free SHS initiative has received popular praise from individuals from both sides of the Ghanaian political divide, not to mention praise from other world leaders, it seems as though - just as the saying goes - one can't please everyone.
Speaking to Ghanaweb.com on the sidelines of main opposition party's Founder's Day Solidarity March in protest of government's move to change the date of the national public holiday, some NDC supporters stated that the Free SHS initiative was not free at all.

According to some NDC supporters, the initiative is fake, and bogus. One lady complained about having her daughter placed in a school in the Volta Region, where she had to rent a room for three years.
According to the lady, the amount of money she paid to rent cost her more than the tuition fees, had the school not been free at all.

"My 13-year-old daughter was placed in Volta Region so I have to rent a single room for her, I’ve to pay the landlord for three years which is even more than paying for the tuition of my child so it’s not free,’’ one of the women laments," she said
