This morning, Ghana won a landmark international dispute with neighboring Ivory Coast. The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) delivered its ruling on the three-year-old maritime dispute between the two nations.
After the ruling many Ghanaians took to social media to take a swipe at the French-speaking African country for fighting a lost battle.
Ghana was represented by a bi-partisan team made up of the attorney general, Gloria Akufo and former attorney general under the NDC administration, Marietta Brew Oppong.
Many social media users in Ghana in a bid to celebrate the landmark ruling took to their Facebook handles and subtly jabbed Cote d’Ivoire after the ruling was made on September 23.
The Court hearing was aired live on TV and others joined in and followed keenly on the proceedings on the internet.
