Facts against Mahama ‘killers’ not true reflection of what transpired - Lawyer for defendants argue

- The lawyer for the 22 alleged killers of Major Mahama says his clients have been wrongly accused

- The 22 accused persons, including the assembly member for Denkyira Obuasi, William Baah, and one female, Vivian Asahene, have been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder

The quest to unravel who the actual killers of late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama took another twist in court Monday when lawyer, George Bernard Shaw for the 22 alleged killers revealed that the facts as presented by the prosecution is untrue.

According to the lawyer for the defendants, the facts sheet presented to the Accra Central District court presided over by Mr Joshua Caleb Abaidoo is incorrect. He opined that the facts have to be rectified to reflect what truly happened on the unfortunate day.

The alleged 'killers' of Major Mahama in court

But responding to his claim and query, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr George Amegah, said the police are still waiting for more information from the Attorney-General’s (A-G’s) outfit.

One his part, the presiding judge ruled that the lawyer should wait for the appropriate time to make his submissions.

The case was adjourned to October 10, 2017.

Major Mahama met his untimely death on May 29, 2017, while on assignment as Commander of a military detachment stationed at Diaso in the Upper Denkyira West District in the Central Region.

The military detachment was in the area to check illegal activities.

Meanwhile the police are still hunting for 13 people who are also suspected to have participated in the lynching of the military officer.
