Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah stated that prior to his decision to seize Exton Cubic Group Limited's mining equipment he didn't know that the company was owned by Ibrahim Mahama, brother to former president John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Kumasi based Otec FM, Ashanti Regional Minister Mensah deplored what he feels is the unnecessary politicization of his seizure of Exton Cubic Group Limited's mining equipment.

The Ashanti Regional Minister related that he is responsible for all of government activities within the Ashanti Region, and that he is also a Minister of State according to Government clause 926.
According to the Ashanti Regional Minister, the seizure of Exton Cubic's mining equipment was due to a communication misunderstanding on behalf of the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Hon. John Peter Amewu.
