Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah stated that prior to his decision to seize Exton Cubic Group Limited's mining equipment he didn't know that the company was owned by Ibrahim Mahama, brother to former president John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on Kumasi based Otec FM, Ashanti Regional Minister Mensah deplored what he feels is the unnecessary politicization of his seizure of Exton Cubic Group Limited's mining equipment.

“I do not understand why people are reading politics into this... I say bring me your documents that give you the right to mine in the Tano Offin forest and you are telling me Asantehene is aware of what you are coming to do”, the Regional Minister claims.

The Ashanti Regional Minister related that he is responsible for all of government activities within the Ashanti Region, and that he is also a Minister of State according to Government clause 926.

According to the Ashanti Regional Minister, the seizure of Exton Cubic's mining equipment was due to a communication misunderstanding on behalf of the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Hon. John Peter Amewu.
