-Former Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah has been reportedly named as one of the reasons NDC lost 2016 elections
-In his attempt to clear his name, he has got himself into a fight with in front of a party bigshot
Former Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah is on a mission to clear his name at any cost over reports that he had been fingered by the Kwesi Botchwey Committee as one of the main reasons why former President John Mahama lost the 2016 elections.
This quest to clear his name has rather seen him take a not so decent action of fighting in public.
He fought no other person than a party member, one Alhaji Zuberu who is said to be a member of member of the fact finding team of the Botchwey Committee when they had been invited by party elder, Ato Ahwoi concerning a banter between them on radio.
Reports emerged last week that Dr Omane-Boamah and a special aide to the former president, Stan Dogbe had been accused by the Committee of making themselves shadow actors of government and convincing “the president that he was more popular than the NDC ticket” causing him to neglect party structures, hence his humbling defeat.
“Doing away with Stan Dogbe and Omane Boamah could have earned the president one million votes so he didn’t have to look to Ashanti Region for the one million votes”, the Daily Guide quoted portions of the yet to be released committee report as saying.
Immediately after the Daily Guide’s report, the former Communications minister came out to deny the supposed findings of the committee saying he had not committed any wrong.
His denial could not stop accusing fingers from being pointed at him with one Alhaji Zuberu, a member of the fact finding team of the Botchwey Committee going on radio to claim that Dr Omane Boamah’s name came up on a lot of occasions as one of the persons who got the NDC defeated.
Displeased by Alhaji Zuberu’s claim, Dr Omane-Boamah attempted to correct some of the assertions against him but it degenerated into a banter in which he [Omane-Boamah] threatened to sue Alhaji Zuberu for defamation.
Entered party bigshot, Ato Ahwoi who is called the feuding parties to his office to settle their differences amicably.
But it did not turn out well as the two could control their tempers and got engaged in a scuffle which sent both of them and the mediator to the floor while he tried to separate the fight.
It took the intervention of some people outside Mr Ahwoi’s office who heard the noise from the room to separate them
In an interview on Accra-based Onua FM, Alhaji Zuberu stated that the fight actually started when Dr Omane-Boamah barged in demanding an unqualified apology from him.
Meanwhile the former minister has instructed his lawyers to acquire a copy of the Botchwey report to study in order to inform his next line of action.
