The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress political party, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has asserted that the late president of Ghana, John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills died of throat cancer.

The scribe, who is also called General Mosquito, was speaking with Accra-based Adom FM, when he made the assertion.

It has been five years since the late president passed away and many Ghanaians, including his son, Sam Atta Mills, have expressed doubt over what killed Atta Mills.

Sam Atta Mills, revealed to the press during the last celebration of Atta Mills' life that, he had not yet seen the autopsy report on his late father.

Also, the brother of the deceased, Dr. Cadman Mills, stoked controversy when he insisted that Atta Mills had passed away from a growth in his sinuses caused by polluted air.

However, Asiedu Nketia believed that it was indeed throat cancer that ended the life of Atta Mills.

He told Adom FM, "President Mills is dead and cancer also kills so if Wikileaks said he had throat cancer than it is true".

The controversial NDC man was referring to a declassified Wikileaks report that stated that John Atta Mills was suffering from throat cancer prior to his passing.

Atta Mills, who tragically passed away at age 68 on July 24, 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital, made history as Ghana's first sitting president to have passed away.
