President Akufo-Addo has downplayed claims of Ghana’s football landscape being on the verge of collapse.
The president had recently congratulated the Black Stars B team for winning the recently held WAFU tournament in Cape Coast making the case that football in the country is indeed not on the decline.
“A few days ago before the results of you achievement, I was having an argument with somebody who was telling me that Ghanaian football was on a decline and I said really.., how. The country that produced player such as James Adjei, Baba Yara, Osei Kofii, Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah and Asamoah Gyan…., that country has run out of great footballers?that cannot be,” President Akufo Addo stated.
Meanwhile, government through the presidency has doled out a cash award of 100,000 dollars to the team for the winning the WAFU tournament.
In other related development, an executive committee member of the Ghana football Association (GFA), Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer believes the Black stars B deserves a second chance at CHAN after putting up such a spirited performance to host and win the FOX WAFU Cup of Nations 2017.
According to him, there is the high expectancy of the Black players wining the cup to restore Ghana’s glory in football.
