Barcelona needed an own goal from former Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates to secure a hard fought 1 - 0 win over Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
The Catalans came into this match having defeated Juventus 3 - 0 in match day day with Lionel Messi grabbing two goals.
However they found it tougher the Portuguese giants featuring their former defender Jeremy Matheiu.
As usual La Pulga tried to pull the strings from the middle as he dropped deep into midfield however the Catalans were wasteful in front of goal.
The goal eventually came when Lionel Messi's free-kick was diverted into the net by Coates in the 49th minute.
Late in the game Paulinho had a chance to double the lead when Coates' awful touch gave the Brazilian a free sight of goal but his attempt was thwarted.

Elsewhere, Juventus needed the second half introduction of their most expensive signing Gonzalo Higuain to get the firepower they wanted to get a 2 - 0 win over Olympiakos.
The striker opened the scoring with a poachers finish in the 69th minute and Croatian Mario Mandzukic doubled the lead in the 80th minute.
The Old Lady dominated the game but found a wall in Proto in goal.
Max Allegri's side now sit third in gorup D level on points with Sporting who they face in their next two matches.
