According to Sola Ayew, a former football international himself, Kwesi Appiah left out his nephews from the 26-man squad because of a personal vendetta he has with the Ayew family and not football reasons.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on Friday, the ex-Hearts of Oak star accused Coach Appiah of dropping the brothers from the squad because of a hatred he habours for the Ayew family.

There have been long-standing reports of feud between Kwesi Appiah and Abedi 'Pele', after Appiah was stripped off the Black Stars captaincy during the 1992 AFCON in Senegal for Abedi because he [Appiah] could not speak French.

Supporters of the Ayews believe that the decision to leave them out is an extension of the 1992 rift between their father and Coach Appiah and Sola Ayew's claim is likely in reference to that.

But considering that Jordan, for instance, was handed his first call to the Black Stars by Coach Appiah and he and his brother have been a constant feature in the team when he [Appiah] has been in charge, it is baffling why he would hate them now.
