It is emerging that controversial musician, Kwame Asare Obeng better known as A Plus deliberately recorded and leaked a conversation between himself and top police CID ton indict the Police Service.
According to a top New Patriotic Party (NPP) officer, the motive of the musician was to clear himself and prove a point after police CID cleared two Presidential Staffers of corruption allegations.
The deputy National Security Coordinator, Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe in an interview with Adom FM revealed that musician A Plus sent the secret tape to him weeks ago and threatened to leak it to clear his name.
He also insisted that he [Nii] forwarded same tape to NPP’s Sammy Awuku since he felt the content could dent the image of the NPP upon seeking permission from the musician.
However he was utterly shocked to hear A Plus now make U-turn to accuse him of being the brain behind the secret tape recordings.
“A Plus insisted he would leak the audio to clear his name because of the statement issued by the police,” he said.
Nii Teiko added that he simply could not understand what A Plus wanted to achieve though the whole matter had been resolved by the police.
The popular musician and a member of the NPP in few months ago accused two Presidential Staffers, Samuel Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Okyere of being the most corrupt officials within the Akufo-Addo government.
His wild corruption allegations against the two deputy Chiefs of Staff earned him invitation to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for further questioning.
However, report from the CID cleared the two top presidential staffers, days after investigations.
But in a surprise twist, a news secret audio has made its way into the media space which has sparked fresh argument on how the police cleared the two government officials.
In the secret tape, the Assistant Commissioner of Police CID, ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah was heard impressing upon the outspoken musician to relax his stance for the police to clear the two deputy Chiefs of Staff in the whole matter.
