Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known as award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, has expressed support for the decriminalization of marijuana in Ghana.
According to him, this decision will benefit people who especially need to use it for medicinal purposes.
In an interview on Adom FM, Stonebwoy stated: “I believe decriminalizing it makes sense [Especially] for medical usage. Those [Countries] that have done that have rules towards it. It will be very unfair that when you handle something in a form of drugs, not only marijuana and you are using it for medical purpose yet you are arrested. I believe it isn’t fair, so it should be looked at…”
He therefore called on the relevant government agencies to consider the call to make the drug legal.
Stonebwoy is not the only celebrity to seek the endorsement for the legalization of weed, as Samini and Kwaw Kese have also voiced their opinion on the matter.
Kwaw Kese called on government to make the plant legal, and alleged that some government officials even smoked it.
Samini also stated that even if government did not want citizens smoking the plant in public, they should consider allowing farmers to grow the plant, so it could exported.
