Church offering thief nabbed by church members

A few days ago, reported that an unidentified man was caught on camera while stealing from an offertory box in a church in Accra. A follow-up to the story however shows that the church thief has been ‘arrested’ by some members of the church.

In a video that has since gone viral on Facebook after the first story was reported, the young man had been apprehended to his hideout and was caught with the money.

The video showed the man being interrogated by some of the church members who appeared quite disgusted by the ‘shameful’ act. The young man upon seeing the ‘mob’ became somewhat disoriented and begged for clemency.

He was made to wear his clothes and it was gathered from the video that he was being led to the police station to answer for his act.

When he was caught, some money believed to have been his loot was found in his shoes after he was made to dress down. He indicated that hardship in life forced him to steal the money from the church. He revealed that he was from Kumasi but happened to speak Fante language.

As he was being led out of what appeared to be a park, he was heckled by the angry church ‘mob’. The video also showed the ‘thief’ being slapped by an unknown man.

The thief who appeared visibly shaken indicated that he came to visit the church and denied the fact that it was not his first time stealing from a church.
