Writing on the Facebook page BeingYou, Hema Subhash said she lost her leg in 2010 as she was disembarking from a bus that started moving before she fully got off.

Unfortunately, her leg was crushed and doctors had to amputate it because of the damage as well as buildup of gangrene. This left her devastated.

Fortunately, her then boyfriend was supportive. He moved from the US to be with her in Bengaluru. Despite her disability, he proposed and they got married in 2011.

Hema and her husband were blessed with a son in June 2013. After her son turned two years old, she decided to start a support group for amputees.
