- She has shared her anguish at losing everything
An old Bangladeshi woman who lost her daughter, house and all her belongings through natural disasters has shared her anguish.
Photojournalist GMB Akash narrated Momena's heartbreaking story on his Facebook page recently.
Momena said when she lost her house for the first time, she could not talk to anyone for months. Her house appears to have been washed away by floods.
She said she was only 15 years old at the time. She and her husband tried to find her belongings in the river to no avail.
She went on to lose her house many more times. On one of those occasions, she also lost her 18-month-old daughter in the floods.
Momena said: "When I was not finding her, I turned into a mad woman, I wasn’t caring the drowning water, I wasn’t caring those broken branches of trees that were hurting me in my way to search her, I do not know when I lost sense. All I knew I had lost her."
Her husband eventually left her because he thought she had gone mad. However, she insisted that she's not mad.
She said: "If I am mad, how I can remember everything of my life, if I were mad I can’t feel this pain still now. You people are educated, what do you think? Am I mad?"
