A 23-year old fashion designer who was arrested by community guards for robbery has indicated that he only went on the robbery expedition with his friend out of pity but ended up being arrested.
Recounting events that led to his arrest, the young man indicated that his friend who was alleged to be a robber told him that he was in dire need of money and had to resort to robbing a house to make some cash.
He revealed that the neighborhood they had plan to visit for the operation was a known neighborhood to him so he decided to put on a mask to cover his face. He went on to say that they entered into one house through the kitchen and went into the sitting room where his friend took an Ipad.
He revealed that there were two rooms in the house and as they contemplated on which room to raid, a lady came out and raised an alarm. The alarm alerted the security guards in the locality who sprang into action to apprehend the robbers.
He added that out of fear, he jumped unto their own building and forgot to take off his mask. He was apprehended by their own security man who caught up with him, overpowered, disarmed him of the axe he was wielding and held him till other security guards.
He indicated that it was only when his mask was taken off that they realized he was the ‘robber’. He lamented his action and indicated that he had brought shame upon his family who were known to be a wealthy family.
He revealed that the painful aspect in the matter was that he was the one going to suffer for his friend who had taken a different route to flee the scene of the robbery. He said it was the first time he had been involved in such a sinister act.
He has been handed over to the police to assist with further investigations.
