- Heavy rains left a newlywed couple stranded
- Luckily, a wedding guest knew how to operate a backhoe digger
- The couple climbed on it and were ferried across the river
A newlywed couple in the Philippines literally had a white water wedding recently after heavy rains flooded a river, leaving them stranded in church.
Marjun Bellesta, 27, and his bride Remelyn, 25, faced the prospect of a long wait until the raging floodwaters subsided. This meant missing their wedding reception at their home.
Fortunately, a wedding guest knew how to operate a backhoe digger that was stationed nearby to clear landslides.
The couple then climbed onto the digger and were ferried carefully across the fast-flowing water.
In a video that has emerged online, the bride is even seen making sure not to get her wedding dress wet.
In an interview, the bride named Remelyn said: "This was like the beginning of married life. There are many challenges to deal with but they can be met."
She added: "Even the river wasn't going to disrupt our wedding arrangements and stop the first dance."
It made much more sense given the fact that she is seven months pregnant. Plus, any bride is a queen on her wedding day!
