- A Bangladeshi woman recently had a difficult birth
- The village midwife was away and her baby was breech
- Fortunately, she remained strong and delivered without incident
A woman in Bangladesh has shared how she remained strong during her daughter's difficult birth even as her husband panicked.
Photojournalist GMB Akash wrote the Fuyara Begum's uplifting story on his Facebook page.
Begum said the village midwife was away for a couple of days when she went into labor.
In addition, doctors had earlier informed her and her husband that their baby was in breech and she might therefore need an operation.
Her husband became really worried and even had a boat on standby in case Begum's condition worsened.
However, Begum said she remained stoic throughout her ordeal. She even asked her husband to go to work as usual and not to panic.
Furthermore, she performed various tasks at home even though she was in labor.
In the end, the midwife returned and she delivered her baby safely.
Begum said: "May be as a woman I cannot do what a man do, but women are not weak, we can do many things that a man cannot do."
