Ghana ready to roll out Digital Address System in two weeks – Bawumia

- Dr Bawumia is saying the new Digital Address System will be able to trace every location in Ghana

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that all is set for Ghana to launch the new Digital Address System in two weeks.

According to Dr Bawumia, the Digital Address System will help trace and identify every Ghanaian irrespective of their location in the country.

Speaking at University off Cape Coast on Wednesday, the Vice President said "even if you live in the middle of River Oti, you can be traced by this modern address system".

Dr Bawumia in his address noted that after analyzing the factors behind the successes of other developed countries, it has become necessary for Ghana to take advantage of technology in order to speed up development.

He also added that Ghana under the NPP leadership strategically launched the National ID system in order to enable every Ghanaian citizen transact business with convenience.

"If you are looking for somebody's house, the koko seller on the right, the blue kiosk on the left, by the gutter, the day you will get there and the koko seller is not there, you are in trouble", Dr Bawumia said.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in his interaction explained that every 5 by 5 metre square in Ghana will be provided with an address to enable the system work effectively.

"It is very very exciting, the address system is GPRS-enabled and is more advanced than systems of powerful economies in the world", he stressed.

He insisted that after the system is rolled out the stress people go through in locating various places in Ghana will no longer exist.

"The waakye seller in any part of the country will be able to tell you this is my address and the system will take you to the exact location," he said.
