Police in the Western region are working around the clock to relocate some Chinese nationals in connection with the death of a Ghanaian, Nana Boamah over a debt of GHc 150 the alleged shooter owed a plumber.

It was reported yesterday that a young Ghanaian had been shot and instantly killed after 2 Chinese nationals started a brawl in a casino in Wassa Akropong in the Wassa Amenfi East District, of the Western Region.
However, it has come to light that the shooting might not have been a ‘mistake’ as earlier reported. According to information credited to Citi News, a young man who is believed to be a plumber who had gone to collect his money from one of the Chinese nationalscalled Nana Boamah to stand in as a witness for him.

The news went on to state that the discussion did not go as planned causing the Chinese man to draw his weapon which was seized by the deceased together with the plumber. However, another gun was fired from an unknown location leading to the death of Nana Boamah.
The death therefore sparked riots by some angry youth in the area who up until now have set about 14 cars belonging to the Chinese nationals in the area ablaze. The irate youth have also vandalized some buildings believed to be owned by the Chinese nationals.
The Paramount Chief of the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II has made frantic efforts to quell the situation by engaging in a dialogue with the rampaging youth who numbered over 1000.

As at now, the police is moving in to relocate some 48 Chinese nationals believed to be settlers in the area.
