Ghanaian social media users 'attack' South African referee over 'unbelievable' call to disallow Ghana's last-minute goal

This afternoon, social media platforms have seen many football-loving Ghanaians vent their frustration at the South African referee whose late decision is likely to quash any last ditch hope and attempt of the Black Stars to qualify for the World cup in Russia next year.

The last minute call made by the referee to disallow Ghana’s goal in the dying embers of the game has not gone down well with many Ghanaians who were hopeful of seeing the senior national team make another appearance at in the World Cup scheduled to take place in Russia.

Many social media users have called on the governing body of football in the country, The Ghana Football Association headed by Kwesi Nyantakyi to appeal the decision of the referee not to make the goal stand.

According to Referee Bennett, he disallowed the goal because it was time and the game was over. Many football pundits have indicated that even the coach of the Ugandan senior national team gestured his team had been defeated when the goal was scored.

The goal has been disallowed and Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the World Cup have not looked any gloomier up until now.
