Three people have been confirmed dead from Saturday night’s gas explosion at Atomic junction, a suburb in Accra.
YEN.com.gh’s checks at the 37 military hospital also indicate that over 30 persons are also in critical conditions, undergoing treatment.
Two filling stations at Atomic junction were engulfed in flames after a gas station around the area exploded.
Reports say those who died were part of the people escaping the scene and not necessarily from burns.
According to the deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Abu Ramadan, one of the deceased jumped from an overpass footbridge because he panicked over the explosion.
Meanwhile, the interior minister and other emergency service workers, as well as government officials, who arrived at the scene last night to monitor and assess the situation are expected to hold a press conference Sunday morning to brief the public on the situation.
