- His story has gone viral online
A Indian father, named only as Idris, worked as a cleaner to make sure his three daughters had a good life and attended school.
However, he never told them what he did for a living because he wished to protect their dignity.
In a story shared on Bangladeshi photojournalist GMB Akash's Facebook page, Idris said he always took a bath in a public toilet at the end of each day so his daughters could not see him as a cleaner.
Idris said: "I never wanted them to feel shame because of me. When my youngest daughter asked me what I did, I used to tell her hesitantly [that] I was a laborer."
He added that he used every penny of his earnings to pay for his daughters' education, denying himself the luxury of buying even a shirt.
Despite the immense challenges and humiliation he faced, Idris was able to take his daughters through school and college, with one of them soon graduating from university.
He said his daughters now take care of him and do not allow him to work.
His story has gone viral online, garnering more than 490,000 reactions, 156,000 shares and 17,000 comments. See some of the readers' reactions below.
