- Soap company Dove has been mired in controversy over racism
- It recently approved a body wash ad showing a black woman turning white
- The ad suggested that black skin is "unclean" and white skin is "clean"
Soap company Dove has been slammed for being racist after one of its adverts showed a black woman turning white apparently after using a Dove body wash.
The video ad depicted the black woman taking off her T-shirt and revealing an inner white woman after the T-shirt is fully off.
It suggested that black skin is "unclean" and white skin is "clean."
Social media users were immediately up in arms against what they termed as the underlying racism in the ad.

Dove posted the short video on its Facebook page on Friday, October 6. However, it had pulled it down by October 7 after the outcry.
The company issued an apology, saying it had "missed the mark" representing black women.
