Argentina have qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after beating Ecuador 3-1 in a tough qualifying match on Wednesday morning, October 11.
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi was the hero for Argentina against Ecuador as the forward scored a fantastic hat-trick that gave Argentina the 2018 World Cup ticket.
Prior to the match, there were many discussions among football fans and football pundits who questioned Argentina's mathematical ability to qualify for the World Cup.
But Lionel Messi proved his worth for Argentina as he scored three goals that condemned Ecuador to a defeat in front of their supporters.
Surprisingly, Ecuador took the lead in the 1st minute through defender Romario Ibarra, and Argentina defenders would have themselves to blame for allowing him to score.
Lionel Messi restored parity for Argentina in the 12th minute after he was wonderfully set up by winger Angel Di Maria to beat goalkeeper Maximo Banguera.
The 30-year-old superstar scored his second goal in the 20th minute after a defensive gaffe from Ecuador before netting Argentina's third and winning goal in the 62nd minute.
