Ghanaian calls for public support to arrest Uber driver who allegedly robbed him last month

- The Uber rider is saying the driver robbed his entire belongings and also injured him

A passenger of American Taxi Company, Uber is desperately calling on the general public to assist police arrest one of the company’s drivers who robbed and injured him last month.

The rider who gave his name as Bismark Ashiamatey says the Uber driver allegedly robbed him and his friend and also inflicted wounds on him in the process.

Bismark who narrated his ordeal in a Facebook post explained that he requested for Uber ride on Thursday September 7, 2017, around 9: 40pm home but rather got a driver who is an armed robber.

He says the Uber driver, named Peter picked him from his office but ended up robbing him of his entire belongings including iPhone 7s, a bag containing GHc800, AirPod, watch, power bank, spectacle, a Surfline dongle, business cards and some flyers.

Bismark says Peter and his accomplice who was following them in another car did not spare his friend as she was also robbed of her purse containing GHc450.

The victim says though he has reported the case to the police and Uber Ghana, the transport company has not been able to provide the full details of the driver to police investigators for about a month now.

Now our lives are being put in danger by Uber and they are refusing to pick up responsibility,” Bismark lamented in a post.

He therefore called on the general public who patronize the services of Uber to be extra vigilant and also caution their loved ones in order to stay alive.

Meanwhile, the Uber driver in question Peter, has denied the allegations, insisting he was also robbed in a similar experience.

Peter is wondering whether it was the complainant, Bismark who arranged with robbers to attack him.
