-Chinese suspected killer remaded into police custody by Takoradi District Court

Mr. Jiang Gen Hai, a Chinese national formerly resident in the Wassa Akropong local, has been remanded into police custody by a Takoradi District Court on accusation of shooting and killing a 29 year old Ghanaian man.
Addressing the court, Police Inspector Bernard Paa Ahinsan, implored the court - presided by Judge Thomas K. Ofidie - to put the Chinese national accused of killing one Nana Buah into police custody.
According to the Inspector, remanding Mr. Jiang Gen Hai into police custody would allow the police service to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
The incident reportedly occurred when a plumber called Nana Buah to witness between himself [the plumber] and a Chinese individual sought the plumbers services. According to reports, the Chinese national refused to pay a quoted fee of Ghc150 after services were rendered to him.

Reports have it that after an initial altercation, the Chinese individual brought out a gun which was then taken from him. He then took out another weapon, which fired and ended up killing Nana Buah.
After the incident, the Wassa Akropong was thrown into turmoil and police were forced to relocate dozens of Chinese nationals to neighboring towns and communities due to fears of reprisal attacks for the town's youths.
The killing of Nana Buah allegedly by Mr. Jiang Gen Hai, was an incident that led to the burning and vandalizing of several vehicles and property worth hundreds of thousands of Ghana Cedis.
