Ghana boasts of many personalities who have excelled in many fields and are making the nation proud in that regard. These personalities have attained world-class status and have put Ghana on the map.
Some of these personalities come from the fields of sports, entertainment, literature, education and diplomacy.
Today, YEN.com.gh brings you some young but powerful Ghanaian personalities who are raising the flag of Ghana high in their field of expertise and make us proud to be the Black Star of Africa.
These young people have excelled in their field and have gone beyond gaining national recognition to be recognized on the continent and beyond for their exploits.
1. Abraham Attah (Actor)
The budding teen actor shot into the limelight after he played a character in the movie, “Beast of no Nation”. The actor received worldwide recognition for his role in the movie and received a lot of international accolades for his talent. The child actor’s effort was crowned with a feature in the latest sequel of the Spiderman movies.
He has made many people proud and has been made an ambassador for the NPP’s flagship Free SHS program which was implemented in September this year.
2. Lily Tugbah (Spelling Bee Champion)
Young Lily took the country by storm and won the national Spelling Bee against all the odds. She went on to represent Ghana and Africa as the only contestant from the continent in the 90th edition of the Scripps International Spelling Bee Competition which was held in the United States of America.
3. K3 Brothers (Hollywood Actors)
The three brothers, Kwame Boateng, Kofi Siriboe and Kwesi Boakye are Hollywood superstars of pure Ghanaian origin. The have featured in award-winning movies and are some of the daling boys in the movie industry winning them the affectionate nickname, “The K3 Brothers”. They are believed to hail from Juaben in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
4. Ruth Ama Gyan- Darkwah (University Student)
The 13-year old made headlines when news was reported that she had been admitted into the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology; one of Ghana’s leading universities. Her academic exploits had led her to be offered to read Mathematics in the esteemed institution.
5. Clara Benson (Actress)
Budding teen actress Clara Benson, popularly known as Maame Serwaa has graced the screens for a while now with her exceptional acting. She has rising among the ranks and among her peers to become a role model for many young actors and actresses. She is revered as one of the wealthiest female actresses in the local movie industry. She has won a number of awards to compliment her hard work in the field of acting.
6. DJ Switch (Disc Jockey)
Known in real life as Erica Tandoh, the 9-year old performer shot to fame after she contested in a popular children’s program known as “Talented Kidz”. The young protégé showed her skills on the turntables and outclassed the other contestants to be crowned winner of the competition. She has performed on quite a number of ‘big’ stages including the prestigious “Ghana Meets Nigeria”.
7. Nadia Eke (Triple Jumper)
Young Nadia made history with Ghana at the Olympics held in South Africa last year. She won Ghana’s first gold medal at the 20th African Seniors Athletics Championships.
8. Yasmin Serwaa Fosu (Fencer)
The 16-year old sportswoman set the path for an uncharted sports activity in Ghana; fencing. She is currently ranked among the top 100 senior fencers and is ranked 54th in the junior fencing division.
9. Abeiku Jackson ( Swimmer)
The 17-year old swimmer made history for Ghana as the nation’s first ever male swimmer to take part in the Olympics. He specialized in the 50-meter freestyle and put Ghana on the map with his impressive efforts.
10. Yaw Dabo (Actor)
The young actor and comedian has captivated many movie-lovers with the sly character he plays in movies. He has won the admiration of many people who enjoy Kumawood-produced movies. He is noted as one of the wealthiest diminutive actors in the movie industry having starred alongside actors like Lil Win, Nana Ama Mcbrown and Benedicta Gafah.
