The Black Starlets have beaten host nation, India 4-0 in their last Group A match inthe 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

Needing a win to ensure automatic qualification for the next round, Ghana had to wait till the 43rd minute to register their first goal after a nervy start to the game.

After a lacklustre tournament so far, lead striker and captain, Eric Ayiah scored his first goal of the tournament to make it 1-0 half time to calm Ghanaian nerves.

Unlike the first half, the Black Starlets started more strongly and Ayiah doubled the tally on 52 minutes to put them in full control.

After the second goal, Ghana piled pressure on the Indians but failed to convert their chances.

With just about four minutes remaining, the Black Starlets scored two goals within one minute to seal the victory.

Substitute Richard Ofori scored in the 86th minute to make it 3-0 while Emmanuel Toku who was acting as captain after Ayiah had been substituted got the fourth.

The win propelled Ghana to the top of the table and would be meeting one of the four best third-placed teams in the next round.

In the other group game, Colombia beat USA 3-1 to snatch the other automatic qualification spot. However, with six points, USA is likely to emerge as one of the best four tjird-placed teams.
