Akufo-Addo sacks PURC Boss

-President Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointment of PURC boss, Samuel Sarpong

-He is to be replaced by Mami Dufie Ofori with immediate effect

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sacked the Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) Samuel Kwadwo Sarpong.

According to a letter announcing his sacking, he is to cease holding himself as such and hand over to one Ms Mami Dufie Ofori.

“Reference is made to your appointment letter dated 11th February 2013, appointing you as the Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission that took effect from 10th December 2012.
“In accordance with paragraph 7 of the said letter, your appointment is hereby terminated.”
“Please ensure that you handover and cease to act as the Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission no later than close business on Friday October 13, 2017,” the letter directed.

Appointed by the previous government in 2013, Mr. Sarpong's last year has been embroiled in controversy over corruption allegations against him by staff of the PURC.
