Ghana’s ‘Highest’ rapper Sarkodie is the living definition of ‘started from the bottom now we’re here.’
He began his musical journey as an underground rapper, battling against other inspired young artists like himself in Tema, where he was born.
Ghana first got to know Sarkodie when he was featured on two songs from hiplife Edem’s maiden album, Volta Regime.
He scored major success with his first single ‘Baby’ with Mugeez of R2Bs fame, which quickly made him a household name in the Ghana rap game.
From 2009 till date, Sarkodie worked hard and has steadily risen to become a brand in the music business in Ghana and across Africa.
The ‘Obidiponbidi’ like every great musician out there, started with minor stints on shows and rap battles, and YEN.com.gh has this amazing flashback video of Sarkodie in his early days.
Posted by the Sarkoholics fan account on Twitter, we see a young Sarkodie spitting fiery punchlines in his early days of superspeed rap style.
Even at that time, it was clear the Obidiponbidi was destined for great things. Watch the video below:
Sarkodie released his ‘Highest’ album in September this year, which is his fifth studio album. He is also an entrepreneur and owns the ‘Sark by Yas’ clothing line.
Sarkodie has an adorable baby girl called Titi, with longtime girlfriend Tracy.
