-Bawumia receives Miss Ghana winners in official visit
-The pageant saw Margaret Mwintuur Dery being crowned as Ghana’s prettiest
-The event took place in the Banquet Hall which saw attendance from many people
Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was paid a courtesy visit in his office by the organizers and winners of the just-ended Miss Ghana 2017 Beauty Pageant.
The vice president who was honored by the visit took to his Facebook page to express his gratitude to the beauty queens.
In a post, the vice president who was seen in pictures with some of the contestants indicated that, “This morning, organizers and winners of the Miss Ghana 2017 pageant paid a courtesy call on me. I urged the ladies to work hard towards promoting Ghana as a viable investment and tourism destination, and also serve as a living example of what the girl child can do if she sets her mind to it”.
The vice president in a speech admonished the beauty queens to use the limelight they have attained to become role models for younger girls who would look up to them.
The keenly contested national beauty pageant was won by Margaret Mwintuur Dery of the Upper West region. The beauty queen is believed to be the daughter of Member of Parliament who doubles as Ghana’s Interior Minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery.
The 1st runner-up for this year’s contest was Priscilla Nana Akua Gameli who hails from the Eastern Region. Marigold Frimpong from the Ashanti Region was crowned 2nd runner-up on the final day.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is known to have celebrated his birthday last week Saturday and received warm wishes from many Ghanaians with a special message coming from Samira Bawumia; Second Lady of Ghana.
In recent news, the vice president has come under some form of attack in relation to his convoy with particular attention being given to the convoy he visited the victims of the Atomic Junction gas explosion with on Sunday.
