- Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner five minutes from time in 2 - 1 win over Getafe
- It was the Portugues first goal of the season, Benzema also scored first goal of the season
- Los Blancos now second on the table but still four behind Barcelona who are yet to play
Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema scored their first La Liga goals of the season as Real Madrid earned a hard-fought 2 - 1 win at Getafe.
Having missed the start of the season through suspension, Ronaldo had not found the net in his first three league appearances and his duck looked set to continue in a largely frustrating contest against their neighbours.
Zinedine Zidane in his 100th league game as manager of Madrid, saw his side take the lead when Karim Benzema capped off a counter-attack with a fine first-half finish.
Getafe surprisingly levelled against the run of play 11 minutes into the second half as Jorge Molina found space between Nacho and Sergio Ramos to poke home.
Ronaldo was then presented with a golden chance to seal the points, only to somehow shoot wide from a yard out.
The Portugal forward however made amends by latching onto Isco's wonderful lofted ball over the top and lashing a half-volley beyond Vicente Guaita.
