- The Spanish defender was diagnosed of the heart condition at the end of last month
- He was expected to be ruled out of action for three months but he should be training at the end of October
Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has successful treated of the viral condition causing the pericarditis he has been suffering from, AS reports.
YEN understands that the defender was treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and aspirin which eventually proved successful.
However, the defender will not be discharged just yet.
Real Madrid are being cautious and have not yet specified a potential return date for the defender although it is expected that he would be training by the end of October.
Dr José González who is the AS resident physician estimates the player will need at least a week before returning to training, and possibly two.
Carvajal is the third full back Real Madrid out injured alongside left backs Marcelo (hamstring) and Theo Hernandez (dislocated shoulder).
Zinedine Zidane is expected to put his trust in 18-year-old right-back Achraf Hakimi who while has bags of potential, is very inexperienced.
Carvajal, who recently signed a contract extension at Real until June 2022, has played 167 times for the Spanish club, winning the Champions League three times along with La Liga and Copa del Rey titles.
