- Malia Obama was recently criticized for her choice of clothing
- The former First Daughter has been put in the spotlight in recent times
YEN shares with you an article about the former First Daughter, Malia Obama, as she is put under the microscope by the media while she is on her gap year before starting her freshman year at Harvard.
The eldest daughter of former President Barack Obama, Malia Obama, was recently photographed as she was walking towards her internship at the Weinstein Company in New York.
Many social media users took notice of her seemingly questionable outfit which was a dress that apparently exposed too much of her legs.
Malia was wearing an above-the-knee denim dress and paired it with a pair of black Chuck Taylors, plus a brown leather backpack.
Instantly, her outfit choice went viral and many questioned her alleged poor taste in clothing.
Moreover, some users even compared her clothing preferences with the children of the current President, Donald Trump.
However, there were some who thought that some people were being unfair to the 18-year-old.
They defended Malia and said that it wasn’t her choice to become a public figure, and people should just let her do what she wants to do.
‘Leave the girl alone...they have been under the microscope for 8 years...let her be herself.’
In continuation, the user continued and said that Malia deserves the respect to be left alone to be herself.
‘I think that people are putting a lot of stress on an 18 year old. Was it a poor choice of apparel. Absolutely. But she didn't choose this life. She just wants to be alone and make her own mistakes,’ another one commented.
Malia is finishing her gap year at present. Afterwards, she will be starting her freshman year at Harvard University.
Although, before heading straight to college, she will make a pit stop to Washington, D.C. to stay with her family for a bit.
The Obamas still reside at the state even after Barack’s term as President had come to a halt.
Previously, the former President’s eldest daughter became a hot topic when she was seen taking part of a protest that was against President Donald Trump’s revival of the Dakota Access Pipeline, according to the Daily Mail.
