The suspect, 23-year old Emmanuel Yankey, together with John Kommey, who is 17 years, headed to a forex bureau in order to conduct business.

Yankey identified himself as a Naval Officer at Sekondi, and was interested in getting the cedi equivalent of $2000.

Before that transaction was to take place, however, he requested for GHc700 from the operator to send to a friend, with the excuse that he (the operator) could deduct it from the $2000, when the deal was done.

At the close of business, the “friend” never showed up.

The bureau operator then asked Yankey to give him the dollar equivalent of the GHc700, but the suspect was unable to do so.

A search of his bag revealed dollar shaped-pieces of papers neatly packed in it.

He was consequently arrested, and sent to the police station.

He then confessed that he was a civilian employee at the Sekondi Naval Base.
