President Akufo-Addo has decorated Ivorian leader, Alhassan Ouattara with Ghana’s highest honour, the Champion of the Star –Honorary Division.
The award was presented to President Ouatarra yesterday at a State Dinner in Accra.
President Ouatarra arrived in Accra on Monday for a two-day state visit after the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), ruled in favor of Ghana in the three-year-long maritime dispute.
The Order of the Star of Ghana is the highest award given by the Government of Ghana to any individual who had contributed to the cause of the country in one way or the other.
President Akufo-Addo in a short address said Ghana will coordinate with Ivory Coast in the Cocoa industry to ensure that the two countries reap higher benefits from the sector.
Nana Addo added that Ghana and Ivory Coast alone contribute to about 65% of the world’s cocoa production on the international market.
“Being the two largest producers of cocoa, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire have begun to cooperate to ensure that we do not continue to be victims of a global cocoa industry that is dependent on the work of our farmers,” the President said.
