WASSCE 2020: 14 students sacked over acts of indiscipline; barred from writing

- 14 students who were engaged in various indiscipline acts during WAEC’s Integrated Science paper have been dismissed from their schools

- They have also been barred from writing the current examination which is expected to end in soon

- Three teachers from Tweneboa Kodua SHS, Kade SHS and Sekondi College have also been interdicted and barred from invigilating the WASSCE pending investigations

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that 14 students who were engaged in various indiscipline acts during WAEC’s Integrated Science paper have been dismissed from their schools

They have also been barred from writing the current examination which is expected to end in soon

In a Press release sighted by YEN.com.gh as issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) these 14 students were dismissed for indiscipline in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The school with the highest number of dismissed students is the Battor SHS, where 5 students were sent home.

From Sekondi College and Juaben SHS two students were dismissed from each school.

At Tweneboa Kodua SHS, the school prefect and another female student were asked to pack out of the campus.

Dismissed students have been asked to leave their respective campuses with immediate effect.

All students in schools where properties were destroyed are expected to be surcharged to cater for the replacement and repair works.

Three teachers from Tweneboa Kodua SHS, Kade SHS and Sekondi College have also been interdicted and barred from invigilating the WASSCE pending investigations.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has, in a bid to put an end to all these acts of indiscipline displayed by the students, called on authorities to arrest students who perpetrate violence against its members.

Their directive comes after several reports of students perpetrating acts of violence and vandalism against school authorities and properties.

According to Philipa Larson, the National President of GNAT, reports of threats of assault on teachers over WASSCE is worrying and must be dealt with.
