The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has moved the examination centre from Bright Senior High School (SHS) in Kukurantumi to Ofori Panin Senior High School.

The action of the WAEC follows the recent attack on its officials at the school during the ongoing West African Secondary School Examination (WASSCE)

According to a Citi News report, final students of Bright SHS attacked the WAEC officials after allegedly being incited by their proprietor, Bright Amponsah.

The report stated that Amponsah was upset about WAEC officials and how strictly they had tightened security during the examinations.

WAEC said in a statement it had decided to move the examination centre to “ensure the integrity of the examination and safeguard the lives of examination officials.”

The council also vowed to take legal action against any person involved in compromising the integrity of the examination in any manner

Meanwhile, in an earlier report by YEN.com.gh, the proprietor has been arrested by the police to assist with investigations.

Final-year students of Bright SHS went on a rampage on Thursday, August 7, and beat an external invigilator in the WASSCE and a reporter for the Daily Graphic, Emmanuel Pacome Damalie.

Reports say the students were angered after the external invigilator resisted their attempts to engage in exam malpractices.
